So, what’s the best way to celebrate Earth Day? Buy a green mobile phone like the Sony Ericsson Elm. The Sony Ericsson Elm is part of Sony Ericsson’s Greenheart line. What’s Greenheart? Greenheart is Sony Ericsson’s mobile phone line which aims to be more environmentally friendly. Most of the Greenheart line is made up of recycled materials and environmentally friendly materials for the packaging. There’s no manual included to save on paper.
But unlike most eco-friendly mobile phones which have no features, the Sony Ericsson Elm has most of the features found on some high end phones such as GPS, 5 megapixel camera, 3G, WiFi, etc. Like what you’re reading? Read some of the Sony Ericsson Elm Review found on the Internet and I’m sure you’ll like it even more.
The Sony Ericsson Jalou has recently been announced by Sony Ericsson. It’s another fashion phone from the Swedish-Japanese mobile phone company and the height of the Sony Ericsson Jalou when closed (it’s a flip phone), is smaller than your average lipstick which some women would probably find convenient.
The Sony Ericsson Jalou has a a beveled design with a monochromatic LCD in front. The Jalou sports a 3.2 megapixel camera and a 2 inch screen inside. Availability of the Sony Ericsson Jalou is around the 4th Quarter of this year.
I don’t get why Sony has to rebrand some of their mobile phones into their other series. First, there’s the Sony Ericsson F305 which was turned into an S305 series, then there’s the Sony Ericsson G705 which was made into a Sony Ericsson W705 mobile phone (or is it the other way around)? Anyways, Sony has to stop recycling their mobile phones this way.
Anyways, I first bought the Sony Ericsson G705 and I must admit, it’s a really cool phone, I love the WiFi on this thing and it has GPS and the price? Well, it’s a midrange phone so I wasn’t really expecting WiFi and GPS. My only gripe is that it’s not really a good music player. I then found out that there’s a Walkman version called the W705. I must admit, I was pissed and I like the style of the W705 more.
I’m currently scouring the forums to see if I could get a W705 firmware on my G705. Hopefully, my search would turn out fruitful.
I know that the most common ringtones nowadays are MP3 ringtones from your favorite artists but I still find it cute whenever I hear a custom ringtone. Nokia, Samsung, Motorola, Sony Ericsson and other mobile phone manufacturers have custom mobile ringtones preinstalled on their devices so when you hear a particular message tone, you’ll automatically associate it with Nokia, Samsung, etc.
Before there were MP3 ringtones, Nokia had this application on their mobile phones that allow you to compose ringtones on your phone. The application is like piano player and all you have to do is know a particular piano piece and you can convert that to a ringtone on Nokia’s phones. Sony Ericsson has a similar application called Music DJ but instead of just one instrument, Music DJ makes use of a variety of instruments so your ringtone is not just a monophonic ringtone but a polyphonic one at that.
It’s a pretty cool application though I have yet to create my masterpiece. If you’re music-centered, you might want to give MusicDJ a try. Who knows, your composition might just become the next Sony Ericsson ringtone.
If you own the Xperia X1, chances are, you probably love the fact that you have Microsoft Mobile Office on your mobile phone. You can edit and make Word and Excel Documents on the go. However, since the Xperia X1 is not a PC, there are limitations to what MS Mobile Office can do. For one, Mobile Excel cannot save excel files with file extension csv. Unlike the desktop version of Excel wherein you can save as file types to different version of excel and even csv files, Mobile Excel cannot.
If you want to create database files, you need third party applications which you can install on your Xperia. Pockert Database Viewer is one such application which can view and edit CSV files. As for Pocket Word, opening VERY large doc files will take a LONG time. Also, when you transfer the documents you made on your Pocket Word to your PC, you’ll notice that these documents will have the file extension docx. Now if you have Microsoft Office lower than the 2007 version, you need to install some sort of extended application for your MS Word to view these type of files. Don’t worry, it’s free but the application will take up a lot of space from your hard disk drive.
So even though Xperia X1 is cool to carry around on a business trip, I wouldn’t really leave my laptop if I were you.
I’ve previously talked about cell phone signal boosters, well, for those not in the know, here’s a quick info of what this device is. A cell phone signal booster is a device that can amplify your mobile phone’s signal. This device usually has a very large internal or in some cases, external antenna in order to receive signals properly.
Although sometimes, it’s not your service provider’s fault that you get a lousy signal. Mobile phones have become more of a fashion icon that’s why instead of external antennae, manufacturers opt for internal ones and these antennae sometimes cannot get a proper reception. That’s why if your friend or family member has a different mobile phone model, you’ll notice that they get a stronger or weaker signal than you do.
A cell phone booster is very easy to install. These devices are usually pretty compact though still bigger than your mobile phone, thanks to advances in technology. You can get some pretty cheap cell phone booster on eBay.
I’ve previously played with my cousin’s windows mobile phone and I couldn’t help but notice that they have a way of switching cell phone signal from GSM to WCDMA or choose it automatically. My Sony Ericsson Phone doesn’t have that option. Yes, I can choose GSM only or GSM or 3G but no option for choosing 3G only signal.
I wish Sony Ericsson would remedy this in the near future. I’ve always tethered my mobile phone to my laptop and sometimes, my phone constantly changes from 2G to 3G and the result is that I get intermittent Internet connection. If I could choose to get 3G signals only, that would solve the problem even if it means, I only get 1 bar of signal. Of course, I can always use a 3G cell phone signal booster but those things costs a lot.
A cell phone booster is a device that would allow you to boost the signal that you’re mobile phone is getting. We all know that indoor signal quality of some providers are crappy so some people would buy these devices.
The Sony Ericsson C905 is Sony’s newest cybershot phone that boasts an 8 megapixel camera! 8 megapixel, that’s a lot of camera power, plus it has autofocus and lots of other camera goodies. Sony Ericsson’s previous camera were only 5 megapixels and their latest include the Sony Ericsson W902, a walkman phone with a 5 megapixel camera.
Sony Ericsson C905 reviews say that image quality wise, the C905 is superb. Though of course, I don’t think that this will be enough for photo enthusiasts to throw away their stand alone digital cameras.
Maybe I’m just neglecting to browser my mobile phones much but it has been only recently when I’ve found out that you can assign different ringtones for your contacts on the Sony Ericsson phones. I’ve downloaded a bunch of free ringtones to see how this works.
For those with Sony Ericsson phones, you only have to go to your contacts menu, select options, select the contact and then select add or edit. You can then personalize the ringtones and even assign pictures for your contacts. Of course, this would only work if your carrier offer caller id services but hey, which carrier nowadays doesn’t, right?
